These are oil paintings based on my experiences while running through Toronto, focusing in on details and vistas, weather and light, nature in the city and city in nature. Fleeting impressions infused with movement and energy. originally the work was installed in a "random" pattern between figurative wood cut-out elements. (there is an example of the installation in the images below). So far, this series is mainly based in Toronto, where I live and enjoy marathon training. (4 x Boston Marathoner) The medium for these landscapes are oil paint on cradle panel, size: 15.25cm x 30.50cm, (6"x12"), and the wood cut-out pieces vary in size, done in acrylic paint on wood.
This past fall (2016), after going back to run a second Swiss Marathon, I started a Basel series of "runbys". I used my weeks there to run, research and sketch for this future series.
